Stars might have a huge fan following, but before law, everyone is equal.
According to reports, “Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, along with Bollywood stars Kareena Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Fardeen Khan and Suniel Shetty are marked in the Stamp Duty evasion list.
The reason behind their names to be included in the list is the mega endorsement deals they have signed between the period 2006 – 2009. Under article 5(H) (A) of the Bombay Stamp Act 1958, duty needs to be paid on every endorsement, either by company or by stars who are endorsing it.
Kareena Kapoor‘s total stamp duty is Rs.3, 16,450(as of 2008), which is comparatively less then Sachin who has evaded Rs. 4, 51,100. Bipasha Basu’s total stamp duty is of Rs. 86,250.
Shame on you guys! You are the role models for many. Please don’t disappoint your fans and pay your stamp duty in time.
